Exhibit Dates: September 23 to November 7, 2008
The eighth biennial Kentucky National Wildlife Art Exhibit opened September 27 with a reception and awards ceremony. This exhibit, sponsored by the Ohio Valley Art League and the Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources, features some of the top wildlife artists in the United States. Seth Hopkins, Executive Director of the Booth Western Art Museum, Cartersville, GA, choose seventy-three artworks in two and three dimensions from artists representing twenty-six states from across the United States.
Awards totaling over $12,000 are presented the evening of the opening reception. This exhibit is funded in part by a grant from the Henderson Area Arts Alliance.
The purpose of the Kentucky National Wildlife Art Exhibit is to increase awareness for the preservation of wildlife and to recognize artists who derive inspiration and imagery from wildlife and the environment.
A performance by Grammy award-winning country and folk singer and songwriter, Nancy Griffith and the Blue Moon Orchestra followed the opening reception. This performance is presented by the Henderson Area Arts
